imaginary horse

£70.00

When I was little, I used to imagine my bicycle was a horse called Sparkle. I led Sparkle around by the reins and left grass at her feet for her to feed. I would ride her down the road with both of our golden locks flowing in the wind. I loved Sparkle and Sparkle loved me.

Gouache and pencil on sumptuous 350gsm Saunders & Waterford paper. The surface takes the paint like velvet. Nostalgic, tender, part play, part daydream. The velvety finish and diffused edges make the scene feel like a remembered afternoon: warm, a little hazy, and loved.
